Friendship Oyster Company operated from 2012 to 2015 under two limited licenses until acquiring approval for a one-acre lease in 2016.  The farm is sited on three tracts in the cold, open water of the lower Medomak River and Muscongus Bay.  One of the tracts includes subtidal area around the farmer's dock, ramp, and float.
Growing techniques use a combination of rack-and-bag structures (cages on bottom) and floating bags.  In the winter, all oysters are caged on the bottom in deeper water to prevent any icing.
Friendship oysters are grown slowly in the cold water of the open Bay, and not harvested until four years of age.  As a result, our oysters are known for their firm meat, hard shells, and bright briny taste with a hint of creaminess.  A perfectly delicious Midcoast Maine oyster.
